In their match against Ghana this week, Equatorial Guinea’s Women’s Nzalang Under-20 won 1-0. This was an important victory for the Women’s Nzalang because it was a qualifying match for World Cup Canada Under-20 2014.
Teammate Cristina scored the one and only goal 37 minutes into the game from a header by captain Cristelle.
On January 26, the teams will have a return match in Accra, giving them two weeks to prepare for the game that will determine which team moves forward to World Cup Canada 2014.
This Sunday, Equatorial Guinea will host the 2nd Beach Volleyball Tournament at Sipopo Beach.
Team registration will officially end at 11:45am, which will be followed by a drawing and pairing of teams.
After a successful event last year, the tournament has gained sponsorship from Elebi, WebGuinea, Agua Pura, FTF Catering, Milobi, Comercial Santy, Comercial Okomar and Perfumerias Haya, among others.

Rodolfo Bodipo, former captain of the National Nzalang team of Equatorial Guinea, was recently appointed as the new advisor for the Equatorial Guinean Football Federation (FEGUIFUT).
Domingo Mituy Edjang, Chairman of FEGUIFUT, appointed Bodipo to his new position two months after he stopped playing for the National Nzalang.
According to Edjang, he hopes that Bodipo will bring positive change to the FEGUIFUT, who has shown great commitment to national soccer by accepting this role.
On Saturday, January 11, Equatorial Guinea’s Women’s Nzalang Under-20 will play Ghana in the final round of the Women’s Under-20 World Cup Canada. The teams will play at the new stadium in Malabo.
According to Equatorial Guinea’s coach, Juan Micha, Ghana will be a tough team to defeat; however, the women on Nzalang have been working hard to prepare for this match.
“The national team of Ghana have a high level and we have great respect for the team, but we will try to get a good result, which could be 2-0,” he said.
The return leg of the final round will be played in the capital Accra the weekend of January 25, and the winning team will travel to the World Cup in Canada.
The U-20 Equatorial Guinea Women’s National Team, Nzalang National, advanced in their quest to qualify for the 2014 Canada FIFA World Cup by defeating Chipolopolo of Zambia at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka, Zambia on Saturday.
The game started after a moment of silence honoring Nelson Mandela and the Deputy Minister of Sports for Zambia. Coach Juan Micha of National Nzalang encouraged the team to fight hard and come out early to play.
During the game, Christelle Olive Ngo Nyapele scored both goals from set pieces in the first half. The first goal came in the 18th minute when Christelle scored from 25 meters away on a free kick. The second goal came shortly afterward when Christelle headed the ball into the net from a corner kick.
The next round of games will take place on December 21st in Malabo.
