Nzalang Nacional Will Play Against the Democratic Republic of Congo in the CAN 2013

At the third and qualifying round of the CAN 2013 held last Thursday in Johannesburg (South Africa) has matched the national team of Equatorial Guinea with the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The draw resulted in the following pairings:

RD del Congo-Equatorial Guinea

Ivory Coast-Senegal







Cape Verde-Cameroon

Central African Republic-Burkina Faso




Sierra Leone -Tunisia


The first leg of matches will take place this September 7 and September 9 and the return matches will take place on October 12 and 14. This is the first time that Equatorial Guinea will face the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Juvenal Edjogo Renews with CE Sabadell

One of Equatorial Guinea’s best international players, has stated that he will stay with CE Sabadell one more year. Juvenal Edjogo, a key player on the Equatorial Guinean national team, recently told, “I feel 100 percent both physically and mentally. My idea is to renew year by year, if I find myself in peak condition.”

Edjogo, who is captain of the Nzalang Nacional and a key part of the Spanish team, has renewed for another season with CE Sabadell; this will be the fifth season in the Sabadell, where he has played 138 matches and scored 20 goals.

Edjogo is convinced that this can be a very good season for his team: “We aspire to important things and I am very happy that everything has been resolved in this way so I can enjoy another year with CE Sabadell.”

First Friendly Ahead of Women’s CAN 2012

Equatorial Guinea and Democratic Republic of Congo’s women’s soccer teams will play their first friendly at Malabo stadium this Saturday, June 23. The friendly marks the start of a series of preparations for the Women’s CAN 2012.

The match is very important for both teams, as part of preparations that lead to the 8th edition of the Women’s African Cup of Nations, with Equatorial Guinea as the host once again.

Charity Golf Tournament 2012

Organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the first charity golf tournament created to raise funds against cancer in Equatorial Guinea will take place this weekend at the Sofitel Sipopo Le Golf course.

The event will begin on Saturday at 10am for player registration. All the attendees will enjoy a putting tournament and a challenging game in the practice course, among other entertaining activities.

The opening ceremony of the charity tournament will take place with a cocktail party at 4.30pm on Saturday, June 23. During the ceremony, there will be a draw to pick teams and tee-off times for the tournament on Sunday, which will be played as a couples scramble.

Asamoah Gyan Scheduled to Return Sooner than Expected

According to DAILY GUIDE SPORTS, Equatorial Guinea’s Black Stars and Al Ain forward, Asamoah Gyan, has said he will return to his team earlier than expected.

Gyan decided to hang his boots temporarily after missing a crucial spot kick in the semi-final clash against Zambia at the Africa Cup of Nations 2012 – a game the Stars lost 0-1.

Asamoah Gyan has decided to return earlier than promised and was quoted for saying he would return to the squad in the latter stages of this year it was found out that he has already been warming up for his return.

“He promised returning later in the year, but he has rescinded his decision and planning to return soonest,” a close pal of the striker told DAILY GUIDE SPORTS in an interview.
