Equatorial Guinea National Soccer team to play Mauritania in CAN 2015

Second Annual Women’s Marathon in Equatorial Guinea

The Association of Support to African Women (ASAMA), a volunteer organization created in Equatorial Guinea two years ago and based in the city of Bata, recently held the Second Annual Women’s Marathon. This Saturday, October 27, the second annual women’s marathon of the Association of Support to African Women (ASAMA) was held under the slogan “More women in everything, less in nothing.” The race passed through the main streets of Bata, in which numerous runners divided into two categories took part: A (young people aged 20 to 40 years old) and B (adults, between 45 and 70 years old).

Black Panthers Win H.E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo Cup

Last Sunday, the Black Panthers of Equatorial Guinea won their first trophy in the Head of State Cup of Equatorial Guinea. Ruslan Obiang Nsue’s team won the grand finale on Sunday by 0-1 against the Academia Deportiva Mesi Nkulu, of Ebebiyin. Despite recently being pulled into second division, the team was able to show that they had sufficient capacity to achieve victory.

The winning goal was scored in the first half by Antonio Ondo and the score was maintained until the end of the match, which was attended by over five thousand people and the President of the Republic and his wife, H.E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo and Constancia Mangue de Obiang.

After this win, the Black Panthers will play next year for the first time the African Cup Winners Cup. In the meantime, Equatorial Guinea’s Super Cup will be played on Sunday, October 21, in which the the Black Panthers will go head to head against the Sony de Ela Nguema, the current champion of the league.

Nzalang Nacional Beats Democratic Republic of Congo; Is Eliminated from CAN 2013

In a match that was played on Sunday, October 14, Equatorial Guinea beat the national team of the Democratic Republic of Congo by two goals to one, but did not qualify for the CAN 2013.  The task of scoring four goals to tie the result of the first match played in Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of Congo) and qualify for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations proved difficult for the Equatorial Guinean team. The match was played in the capital of Equatorial Guinea, at the Malabo Stadium, where the Nzalang Nacional managed to defeat the Leopards of the Democratic Republic of Congo 2-1.

Olympic Committee of Equatorial Guinea (COGE) Meets for 2012 Olympics Review

The directors and board of the COGE (the Olympic Committee of Equatorial Guinea), led by its chairman, Manuel Sabino Asumu Kawan, met last week for the first time after the London Olympics. Among the issues at hand was the donation of computer equipment to the National Sports Federation, whose funds come from the aid of Olympic Solidarity, which organises assistance for National Olympic Committees (NOCs).

The COGE reached financial stability earlier this year, thanks to the recovery of international subsidies that were suspended for four years due to the global economic crisis.
